Outside The Box | Eindhoven 17 - 25 October 2009
Outside The Box is a project centered on the material cardboard. The exhibition also contains experimental cardboard application and visual impressions of cardboard architecture, interior design, and the original use of cardboard in other areas.
Cardboard is inexpensive, versatile, readily available, and easy to process. It is precisely for these reasons that cardboard has a ‘cheap’ image. The American architect Frank Gehry – in particular known for his Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao – was in the 70s one of the first to succeed in giving cardboard an entirely new aesthetic dimension through his design of a series of chairs and tables. Since then the material has popped up regularly in the design world, but it never became really popular, up until now.
